The Friends of the Dalton Council on Aging are a volunteer, tax-exempt non-profit organization formed to foster community and financial support for the Dalton Council on Aging and the Senior Center. Each year we give funds to the Senior Center for programs and activities not included in the town budget.   Over the years, we have helped to fund the Volunteer recognition dinner, holiday parties, Veterans’ events, the Aging Mastery Program and other programs.

The primary source of funds for the Friends is the annual appeal which last year was generously supported.  However, other activities such as the annual craft fair held in the fall were cancelled because of coronavirus. You can donate anytime by going to the “Support Us” menu item on this website or send a contribution to the Friends of the Dalton Council on Aging at P.O. Box 15, Dalton, MA 01227.

The Senior Center will resume some classes and congregate meals. There have been some changes in guidance regarding face masks – if vaccinated, mask use is optional and if unvaccinated, mask use is highly encouraged.  Osteo classes are now open. An orientation session is required for new participants. There have been changes to the schedule for other programs.  Call 413-684-2000 for more information.

The COA and Senior Center staff have been putting out a monthly newsletter called 40 Field St News electronically to keep people informed and up to date on important issues such as scams, vaccine access and open enrollment. To receive a copy, contact the Senior Center at 413-684-2000 and give them your email address. The newsletter is available only electronically at this time. If something important comes up during the month, you may get an additional email but every effort is made to only send necessary bulletins to not overwhelm your inbox.
